Fall Newsletter 2011
This has probably been the hardest year to grow quality grapes in Virginia in all of our 30 years of doing so. Spring rains were followed by long periods of summer heat without any precipitation. Then fall arrived with constant rain or misty days which made picking really difficult. In spite of it all, we have some great wines fermenting in the barrels and tanks although we did lose some grapes to the birds and rain so harvest totals were lower than usual. We look forward to seeing old and new friends at our open house weekends this month, Oct. 15,16 22, 23. Reminder: cellar tours with barrel tastings are at 1:15, 2:30, and 3:45. Pray for great weather! Soups on and the door is open. See you soon.
