WINTER NEWSLETTER 2009
Winter has arrived with fanfare. First a blizzard of snow with
accumulations of 20 plus inches, then some freezing rain and frigid
temperatures. While the snow is not bad for our grape vines, sustained
below 20 degree weather can cause damage, but we won't know for sure what
has occurred until Spring. For now we remain optimistic that Mother
Nature's blast will not harm us in any significant way.
Even with the cold weather here pruning has begun. When you have 13
acres to prune you can't wait until March to do the job. Instead, Ed
gradually prunes in December, January, and February with the last big push
in March.
We hope 2010 has ushered in some happy and healthy times in all of your
lives as well as in our world. Stay warm this winter drinking Autumn Hill
Wines.
Cheers,
Avra and Ed
